Wise Wheeling is a one-person site run by Suryashankar. This page explains how the guides here are made, so you can decide how much weight to give them.
Who writes the guides
There is no team of staff writers or editors. I own the site, choose what it covers and approve what gets published. When a post describes first-hand riding or repair experience, it is mine. Posts never claim rides, tests or results that did not happen.
How a guide is made
- Topic: a specific problem riders ask about, taken from cycling forums, search data and reader messages. If the site already has a guide on it, that guide is improved instead of writing a second one.
- Research and drafting: guides are researched and drafted with the help of AI writing tools, then reviewed before publishing.
- Fact-checking: torque specs, tire and rim sizes, compatibility, e-bike rules and safety advice are checked against the original source (Shimano, SRAM and other manufacturer documents, Park Tool, CPSC and state laws). The source is linked in the post. If a number cannot be verified, it is left out.
- Original material: tables, calculators and diagrams are built for this site from the cited sources. Calculators show the formula they use, and their results are estimates.
- Images: photos are licensed stock photos, my own photos, or clearly captioned illustrations; diagrams are made for the site.
Corrections and updates
If you spot an error, email [email protected] or use the contact page. Confirmed errors are fixed. A post’s “updated” date changes only when its content actually changes.
How the site makes money
Some posts contain Amazon affiliate links, and those posts say so at the top. Products are recommended on merit for the job described, and commissions do not change what a guide recommends.
Safety
Brakes, torque, carbon parts and e-bike batteries are safety-critical. The guides are general information, not a substitute for the component maker’s instructions or a qualified bike shop. When a guide says to stop and see a mechanic, take that seriously.
